The lock and key

Insulin is the key that opens cells to let glucose in. With constant high insulin, cells stop responding — the lock gets sticky. Your pancreas compensates by making even more insulin.

The silent years

Fasting glucose can stay normal for a decade while insulin levels quietly climb. Warning signs include rising waist circumference, fatigue after meals, skin tags, dark patches on the neck and elevated triglycerides.

Reversing it

Losing 5–10% of body weight, walking after meals, resistance training two to three times a week, sleeping seven or more hours and cutting liquid sugar can restore insulin sensitivity substantially — often within weeks.
